Sinopsis
El siglo XX está a la vuelta de la esquina. En invierno, San Petersburgo se transforma en un país de las maravillas de cuento de hadas donde los ríos y canales congelados sirven como carreteras heladas y están llenas de patinadores y mercados. La ciudad es el hogar de Matvey, de 18 años, que trabaja como repartidor de patinaje sobre hielo en una panadería local. Hijo de un pobre farolero, su único tesoro son un par de patines plateados que heredó de su padre. Cuando es despedido injustamente, se une a una pandilla de carteristas que trabajan en los canales, liderados por Alex, de mentalidad revolucionaria.
Synopsis
1899, the Christmas-time St.Petersburg. Ice-covered rivers and canals of the capital seethe with festive activities. On the eve of the new century those who should not be destined to meet, come together. They are people from different worlds: Matvey, the son of a lamplighter, whose only treasure is his silver-plated skates; Alice is the daughter of a high-ranking official dreaming of science. Each of them has his own difficult life-story, but having accidentally met they rush forward together in pursuit of their dreams.
